MISSION STATEMENT

 The purposes of FAPA shall be to advance psychology as a science and as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare by the encouragement of psychology in all its branches in the broadest and most liberal manner; by the improvement of the qualifications and usefulness of psychologists through high standards of competence, professional ethics, conduct, education, and achievement; by the increase and diffusion of psychological knowledge through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions and publications.

Full Membership shall be granted to those members who hold:

      1. A Doctorate in Psychology, or
      2. A license as a psychologist in the State of California, or
      3. A Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology*

*Administrative interpretation: for purposes of determining Full Member status, Licensed Educational Psychologists are accepted on the same basis as Licensed Psychologists.  Full members shall have all the rights and privileges of membership including the right to vote and hold office.

FAPA also accepts student memberships for members who are pre-doctoral students enrolled in a graduate psychology program.  Post-doctoral students enrolled in a post-doctoral program may enroll as student members at a reduced rate as well.  Student members have all the rights and privileges of FAPA membership except for voting or serving on the Board of Directors.
